Our Story in Powder Springs
Esteem Dental Studio is co-owned by Dr. Yokeca Nicole Watts and Dr. Karan Thachil, and we are proud to be a female-owned and Black-owned dental practice. Our doctors saw Powder Springs as a growing, welcoming community, and we opened our doors on Richard D. Sailors Parkway to grow right alongside our neighbors.
Over their years of practice, Dr. Watts and Dr. Thachil recognized that fear and anxiety are a common hurdle keeping patients from the treatment they need. According to studies, about 15 percent of adults experience dental fear and anxiety, with even higher rates among women and younger adults. What Your Visit Feels Like
From your first phone call or form submission, our team makes you feel welcome. You are greeted by name, your questions are answered without rushing, and every part of your visit is handled with warm, personal attention. Every new patient also leaves with a new patient gift and a handwritten thank-you note from our team.
Your first comprehensive dental exam includes a full 3D scan of your teeth in addition to traditional dental X-rays, so you can see what is going on in a clear, easy-to-read image. We review the results together before any treatment begins.
Comfort on Your Terms
Our sedation dentistry options let you choose the level of support that feels right for you.
- Level 1: Nitrous Oxide offers a light, floaty calm that eases the edge off. This level is commonly known as nitrous, laughing gas, or simply “gas,” and you can drive yourself home.
- Level 2: Relaxation Medication is one prescribed pill taken before your visit. You stay awake and responsive, and you arrange a ride home.
- Level 3: Conscious Sedation is a stronger in-office medication for a dreamlike, deeply relaxed state. You arrange a ride home.
Level 2 and Level 3 can be combined. Both of our doctors have completed additional coursework to provide sedation in accordance with the Georgia Board of Dentistry’s regulations, and Dr. Watts is permitted to administer Level 3 sedation.
The Team Behind Your Care
Dr. Watts graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and completed a challenging implant and surgery-focused residency. She has experience with complex implant cases and is completing the AAID MaxiCourse on track to becoming a fellow, supporting dental implant care from single teeth to All-on-4 implants and overdentures. Dr. Watts and a member of our team speak Spanish natively.
Dr. Thachil studied at the University of Georgia and the Dental College of Georgia, earning a Master’s in Biology and his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. He places patient education and shared decision-making at the center of every treatment plan.
Ashley Orr, RDH, leads our hygiene team with more than 20 years of experience. She recently completed the requirements for her local anesthesia permit, and she is known for her bubbly personality and for helping patients learn about their periodontal health so they feel empowered to make their own decisions.

Insurance, Membership, and Financing Options
We are a PPO office and accept many insurance plans, though not all. For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan offers a way to save on care. In addition to Cherry, we offer financing through CareCredit and Alpheon.
