Sedation Options for Every Comfort Level

Over their years of practice, Dr. Watts and Dr. Thachil have recognized that fear and anxiety are a common hurdle keeping patients from the treatment they need. Sedation dentistry lets you stay in control, because you choose the comfort level that suits you. Here is how our three levels differ.

  • Level 1: Nitrous Oxide. A light, floaty calm that just eases the edge off. You stay awake and can drive yourself home. This level is commonly known as nitrous, laughing gas, or simply “gas.”
  • Level 2: Relaxation Medication. One prescribed pill taken before your visit. You stay awake and responsive, and you arrange a ride home.
  • Level 3: Conscious Sedation. Stronger medication given in our office for a deeply relaxed, dreamlike state with little to no memory of the visit. You arrange a ride home.

Dr. Watts and Dr. Thachil have both completed additional coursework to administer sedation in accordance with the Georgia Board of Dentistry’s regulations, and Dr. Watts is permitted to administer Level 3 sedation. Levels 2 and 3 can also be combined for patients who want a deeper level of comfort.

Dr. Yokeca Nicole Watts has experience with complex implant cases and is completing the AAID MaxiCourse and is on track to becoming a fellow. Your first visit starts with a conversation, not a rushed exam. Dr. Watts and Dr. Thachil review your health history and hear your concerns before a complete dental exam. That evaluation includes a full 3D scan of your teeth in addition to traditional dental X-rays, so you can see what is going on in a clear image. Then we build a plan around your goals.
