Missing several teeth in a row, or an entire arch, changes more than how you chew. For decades, the standard answer was a removable denture, but modern implant dentistry now offers a more permanent option: fixed, natural-looking teeth held in place by just a handful of implants. If you have started researching your options, you have likely come across the term “All-on-X.”
At Esteem Dental Studio, Dr. Yokeca Nicole Watts and our team walk you through exactly how All-on-X fits within full-arch implant dentistry, from your first evaluation to the day we place your final restoration and the care that follows.
What Does “All-on-X” Mean?
“All-on-X” is not a single procedure. It is a family of full-arch restoration techniques where an entire arch of teeth, upper, lower, or both, is replaced with a fixed prosthesis anchored by a small number of dental implants rather than one implant per missing tooth. The “X” stands for however many implants a treatment plan calls for, commonly four or six, depending on your jaw and bone density.
Unlike a denture, the final prosthesis is secured directly to the implants, functions much closer to natural teeth, and is not removed for daily cleaning.
How the Full-Arch Restoration Process Works
Treatment moves through three main stages.
Planning and Imaging
Every All-on-X plan starts with a detailed picture of your jaw. At Esteem Dental Studio, that includes a full 3D scan of your teeth and jaw as part of your dental exam, in addition to traditional X-rays, so we can map out each implant before surgery.
Placement Day
On placement day, your comfort level is yours to decide. Sedation options range from Level 1: Nitrous Oxide (also known as nitrous or laughing gas), a light, floaty calm that eases the edge off while you stay awake and drive home, up through Level 3: Conscious Sedation, a stronger medication for a dreamlike, deeply relaxed state, with a ride home arranged in advance. In the same visit, we can often attach a temporary fixed set of teeth.
Healing and Your Final Restoration
Implants need a few months to fuse with your jawbone. Once healing is confirmed, we replace the temporary prosthesis with your final, custom-fitted restoration. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 5 adults aged 75 and older have lost all of their natural teeth, which is why careful planning matters.
Signs You May Be a Candidate for All-on-X
Full-arch restoration is worth a conversation if any of the following sound familiar.
- You are missing most or all of the teeth in an upper or lower arch, or expect to be soon
- You wear a removable denture that shifts, clicks, or feels unstable
- You have enough remaining jawbone to support implants, or are open to a bone evaluation
- You want a fixed set of teeth rather than one you take out at night
A full evaluation is the next step.
Why Patients Choose Esteem Dental Studio for Full-Arch Restoration
Full-arch cases call for planning and precision beyond a standard implant placement. Dr. Watts has more than 10 years of experience with this type of treatment, including complex implant cases, and is completing the AAID MaxiCourse toward fellow status with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Karan Thachil places implants as well.
Careful Work and Lasting Relationships
Dr. Watts treats every full-arch case as a reflection of her own work, so she pays close attention to detail and takes pride in the result. She also enjoys building long-term relationships with these patients because full-arch treatment is an investment that needs ongoing care. A luxury car still needs regular maintenance no matter what it costs, and your new teeth do too.
What Sets Us Apart From Larger Offices
Some larger corporate offices offer this treatment as well, but the experience can feel very different. Dr. Watts has found that the biggest difference for patients who come to us from those offices is the time we spend learning their goals and the care we provide after treatment through maintenance.
If the lowest price is your top priority, we may not be the right fit, and that is okay. If you want a compassionate team that puts your clinical outcome and comfort first, during treatment and after, we are glad to care for you. We stand behind our work.
A Reputation Our Whole Team Earns
Our warmth and consistency show in more than 500 five-star Google reviews and a 2026 Business to Watch recognition from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, which reflects the whole team. If you are weighing All-on-X against partials and dentures, sit down with our doctors and compare options.
